The Chester County Health Department has issued an Extreme Heat Health Alert in response to the National Weather Service forecast for extremely dangerous temperatures and heat index values. Paul Miller’s Law officially went into effect yesterday Pennsylvania today.

The new law prohibits drivers from holding or using a handheld phone while behind the wheel even when stopped in traffic or at a red light. A first offense carries a $50 fine, and once court costs and fees are added, it can exceed $200.
