Uwchlan Ambulance Corps is a progressive EMS organization providing emergency medical services to nearly 60,000 residents across approximately 52 square miles in western Chester County, Pennsylvania. Position Summary: The Per Diem Paramedic is responsible for providing advanced life support (ALS) care and transportation to patients requiring emergency and non-emergency medical services. The Paramedic functions as the lead clinician on ALS responses and works collaboratively with EMTs, AEMTs, healthcare facilities, public safety agencies, and other EMS personnel to ensure exceptional patient care and operational readiness. Per diem personnel provide coverage for open shifts, special events, overtime opportunities, and system staffing needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service.
• Assess, treat, and transport patients in accordance with Pennsylvania EMS protocols and organizational policies.
• Operate as the lead ALS provider on emergency responses.
• Administer medications and perform advanced airway management and other ALS interventions.
• Complete accurate and timely electronic patient care reports.
• Maintain readiness of assigned vehicles, equipment, and supplies.
• Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections at the beginning of each shift.
• Participate in continuing education and mandatory training programs.
• Provide compassionate, professional customer service to patients, families, healthcare providers, and community members.
• Assist with public education, community outreach, and special event coverage as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Current Pennsylvania Paramedic certification.
• Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification.
• Current Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Service Vehicle Operator Certification (EMSVO)
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Hazardous Materials Awareness training
• ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700 and ICS 800 certifications.
• Current FBI background check (within past 6 months for hire)
• Current PSP background check (within past 6 months for hire)
• Current Childline (within past 6 months for hire)

Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of two years ALS field experience.
• Experience in a high-volume 911 EMS system.

Schedule Requirements: Per diem personnel are expected to:
• Maintain required certifications and training.
• Participate in mandatory meetings and training as required.
• Assist with staffing shortages and special event coverage when available.
