| Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was changed forever. We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the countless families, friends, and communities forever affected by that day. We especially honor the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, 8 EMTs and paramedics, and countless other emergency responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to help others. Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to service continue to inspire those of us who serve our communities today. We also remember the responders who became ill in the years that followed and those who continue to live with the physical and emotional consequences of their service. Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. September 11, 2001 — Never Forget. |
